We are seeking to fill the position of a :

HRMS Field Service Engineer, Southern Europe

Date : Q4 2017 / Q1 2018

Reporting to : HRMS Service Manager Southern Europe

Based from : Home office, Paris area

Territory : Paris area with frequent travel in France and some travels in Spain, Italy

Compensation : Base salary + variable + Company car



  • Individual will be responsible for installation, customer training , preventive maintenance, corrective repair and qualification of Waters' entire range of

    LC/High Resolution MS Products and must demonstrate a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

    Other responsibilities include but are not limited to :

    1. Provide higherlevel

    Proteomics and small molecule based system solutions support, (instrument hardware / installation, application and

    software), focused on supporting customers in Southern Europe.

    1. Travel to customer's site to carry out preventive and corrective interventions, implementations and customer training. This involves wide range

    support on GCTof

    and LCTof,


    instrumentation coupled with Acquity UPLC / nanoUPLC inlet systems.

    1. Keep up with technology/applications developments and feed back any customers request via CIT Opportunities.
    2. To ensure that quality system procedures and Health & Safety standards are adhered to at all times.
    3. Among the duties of the job are inclusive all administrative actions to adequately document any intervention; log activities through existing

    systems (FSR, CIT).

    1. Follow up open customer complaints and escalations related to Synapt, Xevo and QTof

    system solutions and assist in providing satisfactory


    On the initial period, our selected candidate will be trained on the Performance Maintenance, Installation, diagnose and repair of the related equipment,

    followed by a period of supervised activity on the field prior to autonomous development of their role. Nevertheless the technical development of our Field

    Service Engineer is continued updated on our Technical Center in USA, UK or France.


Competencies/behaviours and attitude:


  • Master II in Biology or Chemistry, Electronic, Engineering or other science related field is essential.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience on LC/MS/MS as Field Service Engineer or User with:


  • Have hardware knowledge on Synapt, Xevo (Q), Tof, QTof and Acquity (n)UPLC instrumentation is a plus. GC experience would be of advantage. 


  • Have knowledge of the MassLynx HRMS/Proteomics related application managers is a plus.


  • Have expertise / knowledge in proteomics and related applications is a plus.
  • Have strong interest/affinity and focus on technical as well as application problem solving.
  • Can easily interact with customers, field service engineers, service managers within and outside the Waters Organisation in order to quickly acquire and forward the correct information.
  • Good knowledge of all Operating Systems supported and basic computer networking.
  • Strong analytical mindset and strong drive to resolve open issues.
  • Able to work in high demanding and fast changing environment.
  • Excellent reporting skills.

Languages :

  • Fluent French and English languages are mandatory.
  • Able to communicate fluently at technical level in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese languages are a plus.
  • Willing to travel with shortterm notice.
  • Passport and valid driving license are mandatory.
